GUWAHATI: Following largescale devastation of the current wave of flood, under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu asked the railways to provide its men and materials to the flood affected people of Assam.
In view of this, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chahatey Ram met Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday at Brahmaputra State Guest House here and held discussion with him on various aspects of the unprecedented devastations caused by the current wave of flood.
NFR GM Chahatey Ram discussed with the Chief Minister on the probable aspects that railways can extend its machineries to assuage the sufferings of the flood affected people. During the discussion GM Chahatey Ram informed Sonowal that railways can provide relief materials to the flood victims. Chahatey Ram also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed the railways to stand behind the flood affected people of Assam at this time of crisis. He also assured that NF Railway would also help the local administration in restoration of communication link snapped off due to the devastating flood.
Meanwhile Union Minister for Power Piyush Goyal talked to Chief Minister Sonowal on Friday morning and assured all possible help from his ministry. He also directed all the organizations and agencies under the Ministry of Power to provide all possible help to assuage the sufferings of the flood affected people in the State.
