Illegal coal transport in Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG: Illegal transport of coal in Jaintia Hills continues unabated in violation of the National Green Tribunal order.
The latest case is the detention of a truck without registration number at Latyrke village in East Jaintia Hills.
The vehicle was detected during checking. The driver and the helper, however, managed to flee.
On the same night, five more coal-laden trucks, three of which had Assam registration numbers and one from the State, were detained at Phramer in West Jaintia Hills.
