TURA: A wanted criminal arrested for theft and burglary in Tura managed to give police the slip by scaling the ventilator of the hospital toilet after he was taken for medical examination on Saturday night.
Tura police took the accused, Gaga Ch Marak of Lower Hawakhana, to the Civil Hospital here around 8 pm on Saturday. During medical examination, Marak sought the doctor’s permission to use the toilet.
As he went into a toilet, police guards waited outside completely oblivious to the fact that Marak was crawling out of the ventilator.
By the time the guards discovered this, the thief had already fled from the hospital premises leading to a red corner alert issued to all police outposts and stations.
A deputy superintendent of police is heading a search operation.
