SHILLONG: The State Government is examining the implications of the recent High Court order on reservation policy.
Annoyed by the State Government not following the reservation policy in terms of general category candidates in the Prisons Department, the single bench of the High Court of Meghalaya headed by SR Sen had last week ruled that the quota meant for one section cannot be diverted to another.
The court also asserted that there cannot be cent percent reservation and wanted the chief secretary to send the judgment to the Prime Minister, ministers concerned and central authorities as the Constitution does not desire more than 50 percent quota.
An official source said on Monday that the government will go through the text of the order besides various aspects of the reservation policy.
