SHILLONG: Hinting that he faced humiliation in the pre-poll alliance move of the regional parties, UDP legislator Remington Pyngrope on Monday said he will decide whether to contest from the party in 2018 after discussing with his voters.
Last week, as per the list of candidates released by the UDP-HSPDP alliance, Pyngrope representing Mawkynrew constituency will have  to contest against another HSPDP nominee.
According to Pyngrope, during the discussion on the pre-poll alliance, he wanted all the UDP (8) and HSPDP (4) legislators to contest from their respective seats without facing one another. This was also communicated to UDP president Donkupar Roy.
The two-time legislator said the alliance has 12 legislators and in the remaining seats out of 36 in Khasi-Jaintia Hills, if both the parties can tactically field candidates, the victory will be of the regional parties that will help the alliance lead the next government.
However, Pyngrope said he was annoyed with the party leadership for not following his suggestion.
When asked, the leader admitted that there are a lot of offers from many political parties.
“As of now, I am in UDP and I have not made any decision,” he said.
