SHILLONG: The Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CoRP) has accused Umroi MLA Ngaitlang Dhar of misusing public money following an RTI filed by the organisation in the office of the Umsning block on various MLA schemes for 2013-14 and 2015-16.
Addressing mediapersons on Tuesday, CoRP president (eastern zone) Garlandford Kharsyntiew said, “The MLA maintains that he helps people from his own pocket but he is using money from the MLA scheme.”
“It is shown that an amount of Rs 3, 40, 500 was given for the improvement of a paddy field of Banrilang Pyngrope at Nongrah, Umroi. Whereas, the paddy field actually belongs to the MLA,” he said.
Kharsyntiew further said that the MLA distributed CGI sheets with a thickness of .25 mm whereas the RTI revealed there was a purchase of CGI sheets at Rs 600 per piece for 370 beneficiaries with 27 pieces each and .45 mm thickness.”
On the other hand, the CoRP questioned the existence of the ‘12 development organisations’ which was revealed in the RTI.
“We don’t know what these organisations are all about. We will seek a clarification from the MLA,” he said.
CoRP said it would also place the RTI findings before the public.
