SHILLONG: BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli on Saturday said the party was working on its strengths for next year’s Assembly elections in the state.
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday on whether the party would strike an alliance with NPP, Kohli said, “At present, we are preparing ourselves independently. What will happen in the future nobody knows.”
“Every party in Meghalaya is working to contest the election on its own strength. Whether there is to be an alliance before the election or after the election that is something only the central leadership decides if such a situation arrives,” Kohli said.
As for the candidates, he said their assessment was done in many layers and that the internal process with regard to preparation for the election was already under way.
Kohli further said that BJP national president Amit Shah was likely to arrive in the state in September after which they would get into election mode.
