WILLIAMNAGAR: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said on Monday the Horticulture Mission focuses on plantation of high-value indigenous plants and livelihood generation in the long term.
He also mentioned the plan to introduce satellite mapping of arable land.
Addressing a gathering at Songsak Agitokgre in East Garo Hills before distributing agar, black pepper and drumstick saplings, Sangma said, “It is necessary to have social mobilisation so that people can be motivated to take ownership of the programme.”
The chief minister was accompanied by School Education and Literacy Minister Deborah Marak.
Stressing on scientific resources available in the state, Sangma said the government is coming up with a programme called Comprehensive Agriculture Planning under the Mission through which satellite mapping of agricultural lands of farmers will be undertaken.
