SHILLONG: The general body meeting of the All India Postal Employees Union (AIPEU), group C employees and the Grameen Dak Seva Meghalaya division was held in the city on Thursday. The meeting congratulated the rank and file of the NFPE postal employees of Meghalaya and the NE Circle in general for their participation in the one-day strike on Wednesday. The meeting also thanked all the unions and organisations in Shillong for their support.
The meeting also condemned the incident that took place in front of the SBI main branch ATM in which police personnel stationed at Shillong GPO dispersed the protesters who were demonstrating peacefully.
The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the Chief Postmaster General, N. E. circle, who said that he would look into the matter.
