Madhya Pradesh Govt contributes Rs 2 cr to Assam CM’s Chief Relief Fund

GUWAHATI: Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to Chief Ministers of all states to provide assistance to flood-hit states of the country during the “All CM’s Meet” held recently in New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh Government has contributed an amount of Rs 2 (two) crore to Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Minister of State, Cooperatives, Government of Madhya Pradesh Vishwas Sarang handed over the cheque to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in his office chamber at Janata Bhawan.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan talked to Sonowal over phone and expressed his deepest sympathies with the people of the state at the time of their crisis. He said that magnitude of the natural disaster that Assam faced was indeed very challenging for the people of the state and the administration.

Expressing his deepest gratitude to the Madhya Pradesh Government and the people of Madhya Pradesh for this noble gesture, Sonowal said that the Madhya Pradesh government has shown the best example of camaradie at this critical time of the state. He also termed the step as a major initiative towards strengthening Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. The Chief Minister also said that the Madhya Pradesh government’s move would strengthen brotherhood and amity between Assam and Madhya Pradesh and both the states would continue to work for mutual development.
