Wahingdoh beat Langsning to reach SPL final

 SHILLONG: Tournament favourites Royal Wahingdoh made it to the final of the Shillong Premiere League after defeating Langsning SC 2-1 in the first semi-final played at First Division Ground, Polo here on Saturday.

The defeat though is not the ebd of the road for Langsning as the Shillong Sports Association (SSA) has decided to hold three semi-finals in this year’s tournament. Langsning would now play the winners of the second semi-final between Meghalaya Police Football Team and Ar-Hima SC to be played on Monday.

Meanwhile, in an evenly contested game, both teams exhibited attacking game with Royal Wahingdoh dominating the proceedings in the initial stages of the match.

However, it was Langsning who managed to break the deadlock through an excellent goal by PK Ningleithing in the 15th minute.The next few minutes saw aggressive football from both ends as Wahingdoh were looking for that all important equaliser.

Langsning nearly managed to increase the lead in the 23rd minute when an attempt by Hojon Chin was brilliantly saved by the Wahingdoh goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Wahingdoh continued to penetrate through the Langsning defence and their hard work finally paid off in the 31st minute when Perry S Kolie scored a stunning goal to level the match 1-1.

Wahingdoh struck again in the 44th minute when C Laldingmawia helped his team to book its place in the final.

Langsning failed to convert the half chances in the second half and were reduced to ten men after Ailad Kynta was given red card for showing dissent to the referee.Kynta would not be available for the third semi-final on Wednesday.
