Nagaland bags Gold Medal in IITF

 KOHIMA: The Nagaland State Pavilion has been awarded a gold medal under North East State category during the 31st India International Trade Fair 2011 held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

According to a press note issued by PRO, Nagaland House, New Delhi Kuolie Mere here on Monday, the award was given for outstanding performance in excellence in display during the trade fair which was held from November 14 to 27.

The award was received by pavilion Director Longri Teka and his team from Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar, Govt of India, on Sunday morning at Shakuntalam Theater, Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. There were in all six different categories of awards.

The note quoting the Pavilion Director said the Nagaland Pavilion received a fair amount of queries from traders and business persons. They were willing to purchase brooms, cane, bamboo and wood carving products from the state.

However, Kerala won the gold medal in the states category, while Madhya Pradesh bagged the silver and Chandigarh emerged winner in the Union Territories category.

In the foreign category, South Africa won the gold medal among 26 participating countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Thailand. (UNI)
