The banks of the Daru River is strewn with garbage thrown by shop owners of Ampati Market. Raising grave concern over the matter, two organizations, the A’chik Youth Council (AYC) and the Garo Students’ Union (GSU) in Ampati have urged the district administration to take necessary steps to save the river. The organizations have also appealed to citizens and bazaar committees to stop the dumping of garbage so that the river can be revived. ST Photo.
