SHILLONG: Environmentalist, Naba Bhattarcharjee, has sought action taken reports, and interventions proposed to ameliorate the prevailing situation regarding rejuvenation of Wah Umkhrah, Um Shyrpi and Umiam Lake from the government through National Green Tribunal (NGT), Eastern Bench, Kolkata.
In a letter addressed to Subodh Sharma, Deputy Registrar, NGT, Bhattercharjee who had filed a petition for the rejuvenation of the rivers, said that without being furnished the copies of
the documents, it would be difficult for him to intervene and highlight his reply prior to the subsequent hearing.
In this regard, he has requested the Deputy Registrar of NGT to issue notice to the respondents to provide him with copies of all the necessary documents required in preparation for the hearing.
He also alleged that the letter intimating the date of hearing, which was fixed on September 4, was sent to him four days after the hearing.
