Shillong cops stage street plays to denounce drug menace, trafficking

SHILLONG: The District State Legal Service Authority on Saturday organised a street play to create awareness on the ill effects of drug abuse and human trafficking at the parking lot of Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA), Police Bazar on Saturday.

Street plays were presented by the personnel of Sadar Police Station along with students of the Social Works Department of Martin Luther Christian University, Professionals Academy and members of the Shillong Bar Association along with staff of the Shillong Court.

The people who spoke on the burning issue of drugs abuse and human trafficking were B Khriam, CJM, Shillong, Davis R Marak, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police (City), East Khasi Hills, Shillong, Rajiv Nath, Public Prosecutor, Shillong.

The speakers on the occasion stressed on the need of adopting a holistic approach to tackle the menace of drugs and human trafficking which are causing greatest harm to the society.

It may be mentioned that the programme was conceptualized by E Kharumnuid, District and Sessions Judge, East Khasi Hills, Shillong.
