Teachers’ effectiveness training for better results

SHILLONG: A group of 50 teachers from schools in and around Williamnagar were felicitated on the September 15, by the Deputy Commissioner, H B Marak IAS, East Garo Hills, for successfully completing an intensive teachers’ training camp to “Enhance Teaching Effectiveness” in the district.
The programme conducted by Shillong based Group Avenues was organised under the aegis of the Chief Minister’s Career Guidance & Counselling Scheme from September 12- 15.
Participants from over 26 Schools were taken through a four-day curriculum that covered a range of modules to improve teaching approach and classroom management.
Managing Director, Avenues, Mark Stone Laitflang was also present at the occasion and recognised the growth and the effort put in by teachers to make change happen.
Marak also lauded the teachers for their untiring and dedicated service.
The East Garo Hills district has seen below average performance in the Secondary School Leaving Examination results with just 36 percent of students passing the exam this year. Group Avenues’ range of training interventions for teachers under their “Teaching for Tomorrow” programmes seek to address this gap by improving teacher-student relationships and teaching effectiveness in rural and sub-urban school settings in the State.
