SHILLONG: Senior Congress leader Rowell Lyngdoh claimed it was impossible for the Congress to form the next government in Meghalaya.
Speaking to The Shillong Times here on Monday, Lyngdoh said the Congress will definitely not come back to power owing to their horrible organisation.
“Mukul Sangma may be claiming in the newspapers that they will get 18-20 seats alone in Garo Hills but I don’t think they will get even 14-15 seats in the entire state,” he said.
According to Lyngdoh, people in the state feel that Mukul Sangma is arrogant and partial and he has taken all the developmental projects to his constituency.
“Since 2015 there was a move to remove him from the chair but AICC was not bothered to look into the problems, and so naturally, the consequences will be that the party will not perform well in the elections,” he said.
Asked whether he would contest the elections, he said he was still discussing with his supporters whether he should contest or not. Besides if he decided to contest, he would have to decide from which party he would contest.
Lyngdoh also informed that his nephew had recently joined the NPP and may contest the election if he (Lyngdoh) didn’t.
A former deputy chief minister, Lyngdoh had decided not to apply for ticket from the Congress after MPCC president DD Lapang had dissolved the Mawkyrwat block.
