Govt to boost handloom sector

 SHILLONG: Sericulture and Weaving Minister Prestone Tynsong has informed that the state government will create corpus fund to boost the handloom sector in the state while referring to an increase in the number of weavers in the state.

Informing this at the inaugural function of the fifteen-day Special Handloom Expo-2011 organized by the Directorate of Sericulture and Weaving Meghalaya, Shillong on behalf of Development Commissioner for Handloom, government of India Ministry of Textiles New Delhi at the State Central Library premises here on Thursday, Tynsong said it is befitting to avail funds to the weavers of the state keeping in minds their talents and capability in this field.
