JOWAI: Job cards to beneficiaries in Ummulong were issued after public hearings held on September 6 though the Village Employment Council (VEC) started the scheme in 2008.
After many years, the villagers got their job cards. The headman has to issue the cards only after the directive of the Project Director, DRDA, DM Wahlang. When the villagers received their job cards they found that their signatures on the cards were forged by the VEC officials.
Wages were transferred to job card holders’ bank accounts by the headman even when they did not come for work, the villagers alleged.
