SHILLONG: Sohryngkham MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem has extended his support to the Executive Committee led by the People’s Democratic Forum in KHADC ahead of the council’s two-day session.
Syiem, who contested and won from HSPDP, was earlier suspended by the party.
In his letter on Saturday, Syiem said he extended support for the sake of stability and without any condition.
With the development, KHADC chief executive member PN Syiem said the strength of the coalition has gone up to 18.
KHNAM MDC Adelbert Nongrum had announced that he would move a no-confidence against the PDF coalition during the session.
He, however, had said the intention was not to topple the coalition but to highlight the issues related to trading licence and the need to amend the district council rule to enable only the indigenous Scheduled Tribes to take part in the district council elections.
