SHILLONG: The human logo formation comprising 2,870 young and future voters in a single venue here has found its place in the Limca Book of Records.
Chief electoral officer, Frederick Kharkongor informed about the recognition during the state-level training and awareness campaign on voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) on Monday.
Kharkongor said that an official of the Limca Book of Records has conveyed the recognition to the state election department.
“We would like to congratulate your office as your record on maximum number of enrolled young and future voters forming the human logo in a single venue, JN Stadium, Shillong, on July 1, 2017, features in our forthcoming Limca Book of Records 2018 edition to be published in November, 2017. A certificate will be handed over to you by November end,” Garima Manon, the official, said in a message sent to the chief electoral officer.
It may be mentioned that the human logo formation was part of the Mission Unite (U and I towards Enrolment) which was a special drive to enroll young and left-out voters in the age categories of 18 to 21, held in July this year.
Kharkongor said the logo size was 120ft X 75ft in which 2,870 students belonging to 113 schools and three colleges participated.
An aerial shot of human logo formation was also taken from a drone at the state launch of the special drive.
The state election department has already enrolled over 17 lakh voters, data available on September 27 revealed.
The department has set a target of enrolling 18 lakh people even as 17, 68,000 are already enlisted following a robust campaign on voting rights.
The department had launched the ‘Mission Unite Campaign’ to target first-time voters.
