SHILLONG: Sohryngkham MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem will join the National People’s Party (NPP) soon.
Syiem, while talking to The Shillong Times, said an official statement on his joining NPP will be issued in three to four days.
Earlier reports said it would depend on his supporters as to which party he would contest from for the Mawryngkneng seat, currently represented by Independent legislator David Nongrum.
NPP, led by Tura MP Conrad K Sangma, recently got a shot in the arm with several MLAs and MDCs coming under its fold. Nongkrem MDC HS Shylla is the latest entrant.
NPP state president WR Kharlukhi has indicated that UDP legislator Remington Pyngrope will also join NPP and his decision has been conveyed to the leadership.
Kharlukhi said though the deadline to collect application forms from Khasi-Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi was from October 18 to 25, it was extended to November 2.
The applications received till date are in addition to the seats of seven MLAs and three MDCs who will soon join the party.
While the party has completed the process of receiving applications from 23 seats of Garo Hills, except Ampati, the process in Khasi Hills would be completed by the first week of November.
Kharlukhi said the first list of candidates would be released by Conrad on November 9.
