City school celebrates Grandparents’ Day

SHILLONG: While parents’ days are celebrated widely, the KendriyaVidyalya, Happy Valley, Shillong went a step ahead in honouring the grandparents.
The grandparents’ day was celebrated in the institution on Wednesday.
The grandparents were welcomed by the school authorities and later they were honoured by the Vice Principal K. Ramesh, Head mistress in-charge Nanda Upadhya, teachers and children by presenting greeting cards and badges.
G. Wahlang in her welcome speech, explained about the celebration initiated by the school under the Common Minimum Programme.
In the presence of the grandparents, the children of the Vidyalaya presented cultural programmes including songs and dances.
The institution in a statement said that a game was also organized for the grandparents which made the day joyful and filled the hearts of all the guests with happiness.
The grandparents shared their feelings and felt proud to be part of the celebration.Upadhya thanked the grandparents for their participation.
