SHILLONG: Following the submission of the pay hike report by the empowered committee to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Thursday, the Cabinet will meet next week to announce the new pay package.
The chief minister told reporters that he received the file related to the report of the empowered committee on Thursday.
“I am going through the file. We are working to take a call on this. We will try to complete the whole exercise before the next Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held next week,” he said.
To a query whether the new pay package will be a Christmas gift to the government staff, the chief minister said the government would maintain the timeline so that the commitment to implement the pay package is fructified.
He said the new pay scale will motivate the government employees to work with more dedication and commitment and do justice to the call of duty.
“This will help to have a positive work environment,” he added.
