TURA: The Indo-Bangla Border Fencing Land Owners Association (IBBFLOA) from South Garo Hills which recently served an ultimatum of seven days for the government to pay compensation to land owners for lands acquired by it has said that its intention was never to ‘destroy the border fencing’.
In a clarification issued here on Friday the association said the resolution taken in its meeting was to ‘file a case in the High Court of Meghalaya’ upon expiry of the seven day deadline.
“It was a clerical mistake on our part and the sentence was inadvertently typed as ‘shall destroy the IBBF after seven days’,” it said.
