SHILLONG: The state government has decided to frame rules to restrict nepotism in selection of candidates by the District Selection Committees.
The government’s move comes after the allegation against the member secretary of the District Selection Committee in West Garo Hills and additional district magistrate AVD Shira that she presided over the recruitment examinations to government vacancies on September 26 in which her son and daughter made it to the top 10 list.
An official source said the convention is that if the candidates are relatives, the officers should not be part of the selection process.
“We are planning to put in black and white the need to exempt officers from being part of the selection committee when their relatives appear for tests,” the official said.
The official also added that the government had sought a report and mark sheets obtained by candidates from the district administration before taking the next course of action.
