SHILLONG: The fund under the Centre’s special assistance scheme to repair the Nongstoin-Wahkaji-Phlangdiloin single lane is being delayed because the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has not submitted the utilisation certificate for 2015-16.
This was informed by KHADC chief executive member PN Syiem when he met a KSU delegation on Wednesday. However, he told the KSU members that once fund for 2017-18 is released the council will give Rs 25 crore to PWD (Roads) to repair the single lane.“We urge the CEM to speed up submission of the UC so that the central share can be released. This will make way for PWD to repair the road,” said KSU president Lambok Marngar.
The road project is being delayed because PWD (Road) did not grant an NOC to KHADC to execute the project.
The repair work will start from Nongstoin (10 km) and the remaining 33 km is under Mawkyrwat and other divisions.
