SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has alleged that an employee of MLP Mawiong sold liquor from the police canteen to civilian population.
In a petition to the Commandant 1st BLN, MLP Mawiong complained the official on the sale of canteen liquor, from the canteen of MLP Mawiong by a sweeper, Ramesh Daom, to people belonging to nearby localities.
Connie Thangkhiew, social secretary of KHNAM state Youth wing, said that it has affected the various household and communities located around the MLP Mawiong 1st Battalion.
“This is against the rules and discipline of the Battalion. The Police Department are carrying out raid and checks of sale of liquor illegally in Polo areas and others, it would be very discouraging if sale of liquor is allowed from the premises of the department itself,” Thangkhiew said.
The youth wing of the KHNAM political party has demanded for immediate action on the matter.
