TURA: A 15-year-old boy had to cut short his on-going final term examinations in school due to injuries sustained following an assault by a group of alleged police personnel in Samanda village of East Garo Hills.

Five unidentified persons alleged to be police personnel, including two females in civvies, had assaulted the young boy at his home on November 20 afternoon shortly after his return from school examination at Dolwarigre. He sustained grievous injuries and was unable to return to write the rest of the examinations.

Initially afraid, the father of the victim finally mustered up courage and lodged an FIR with police on Saturday prompting the administration to initiate a probe.

“We have received the complaint and investigation is on. Action will be taken against those who perpetrated the crime,” informed SP in-charge Ringrang T G Momin.
