SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Wednesday said the land acquisition for constructing a four-lane road from Nongmynsong to Diengpasoh on Shillong Bypass was in its final stages.
Speaking to media persons during his visit to Tynring village on Wednesday, Sangma said the alignment for the proposed road is almost over and once it is done and owners are identified and verified, the process of land acquisition would be undertaken by the state government.
According to the chief minister, the idea behind the four-lane project was to connect the city with Shillong Bypass. Besides, the government has a right of way from Diengpasoh to Mawpdang and the people are supporting the project.
The four lane project would pass through Tynring as the village is located in the middle of Shillong Bypass and Nongmynsong.
Meanwhile, Sangma also informed that the government has recently sanctioned and allotted the work for augmentation of water supply scheme in the area.
“I will be laying the foundation for the project shortly,” he told reporters.
The proposed augmentation of water scheme would cover Tynring village besides the nearby areas which would soon have plenty of institutions.
However, the water supply project has been slightly delayed as there are some issues pertaining to the reservoir which is the intake point of the project.
“The local MLA will facilitate dialogue and try to overcome the challenge,” he added.
