Flash Mob held in Tura Supermarket

TURA: As part of the 16 days Activism against Gender Based Violence, Flash Mob was performed at the Tura Super Market on Wednesday. The programme was organised by Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) in collaboration with District Social Welfare office, Tura. The Flash Mob was performed by volunteers and members of Eastern Dance Icon, Shillong aimed at creating awareness on the atrocities and crimes against women.
The Vice Chairperson of the MSCW, Shillong Gamchi T R Marak emphasised on various issues relating especially to women and children including domestic violence, sexual harassment amongst others. She advised the people to seek help and assistance from the concerned department like district Social Welfare Office, Child Protection Office etc., to ensure effective coordination between concerned officers and measures to combat crimes against women. She also urged everyone to sensitise the people about various crimes in the district and strict punishment to be given to the wrong doers.
It may be noted that the commission has been organising various activities in the state and the same Flash Mob was performed at Ampati on Tuesday morning.
