Prohibition
The Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District has notified that under Rule 5 of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 has banned plating loud music between 10pm – 6 am. The Deputy Commissioner warned that the noise caused by using loudspeaker and playing loud music between 10 pm– 6 am by any organisation and locality, club organisation, society while inter alia, fete, music concerts, festivals and commercial events should procure approval from the Deputy Commisioner’s office before organising any event. Anybody found violating the rule will be punished as per the Act.

Cleaning drive
The Dorbar Shnong Nongkhyriem will organise its annual cleaning drive on December 18 from 8 am onwards. Essay, poetry and drawing competition s will be held to commemorate the death anniversary of Soso Tham. This will be followed by a community feast at St. Xavier’s School, Nongthymmai. All residents of the locality are requested to participate in the cleaning drive.
The Dorbar Shnong Qualapatty along with the Qualapatty Sports Social and Cultural club will organise a cleaning drive on December 16 which will start from 8 am. Vehicles from outside the locality of Qualapatty will not be allowed during the cleaning drive. All residents of the locality are requested to take part in the drive.
