SBM Cell formally inaugurated at Ampati

TURA: The Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) Cell in the office building of the Executive Engineer, PHE, Ampati Division was formally inaugurated by South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM,) Cyril V Darlong Diengdoh in the presence of Executive Engineer PHE Ampati Division, J M Sangma, officers and staff of PHE, members of DWSM, other district officials and students on Friday.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said that the Mission was not only about building toilets and expressed hope that setting up of this cell would go a long way in realising the goals of Swachh Bharat Mission. While deliberating on waste management rules, he also emphasised that cleanliness, segregation and proper disposal of waste should become a cultural practice in every household.

Earlier, as part of creating awareness on cleanliness, PHE department also organised an essay competition on the topic “What can I do for a clean India” and film competition on “My contributions towards clean India” for the students of the district and the prizes were given away to the winners during the inaugural function by the Deputy Commissioner.
