SHILLONG: Contrary to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma’s claim that the BJP-led government at the Centre was taking credit for projects initiated by the UPA government, state BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh said the Umiam-Jorabat four-lane road and two-lane road in the city were dream projects of former BJP Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and inaugurated by current Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Modi had stated that the roads were dream projects of Vajpayee initiated by the NDA government. However, he admitted that the UPA-II government had a role in its implementation.
Lyngdoh said it was wrong for Chief Minister Sangma to say that Modi was taking the credit for the four-lane road project.
“The people know the truth and we don’t want any confrontation. Whatever the Prime Minister said, we believe that it is the truth,” he said. He said it is true that the NDA coalition government is moving towards development so that people would get benefits from it.
“The four-lane and two-lane highways are the dream projects of Atal Bihari Vajpayee”, Lyngdoh asserted.
He also said that under Modi, the BJP-led NDA government would implement the dream projects and create new infrastructure,” Lyngdoh said.
