SHILLONG: The Director of Social Welfare has issued a showcause notice to child care institutions in the state for not registering under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
Earlier, information was sent to all child care institutions through the District Child Protection Officer for immediate registration for which the last date was on December 20.
A notice was also issued through print and electronic media.
In spite of this, many institutions have failed to comply with the rule compelling the government to take action.
According to Sections 41 and 42 of the Act, it is mandatory for all child care institutions to be registered.
