SHILLONG: Chief Secretary Y Tsering on Wednesday reviewed central schemes to speed up their implementation.
Tsering said schemes of NEC and DoNER were reviewed to ensure that there is no delay in implementation.
According to him, Meghalaya is ‘conservative’ in submission of utilisation certificates to the Centre as the government takes more time to process the matter.
There were occasions when Meghalaya did not get its share of money due to the issues related to submission of utilisation certificates in time. “However, after holding monthly review meetings, the situation has improved,” Tsering said.
Law & order priority
Maintaining law and order and cleanliness in parts of the city is the priority of the chief secretary in the new year. Tsering said by all means, the state is committed to ensuring law and order, besides holding free and fair Assembly polls.
“There should be improvement in cleanliness in parts of the city,” he said.
To a query, Tsering said the officers will execute the programmes and policies of the new government after the polls.
