SHILLONG: Ahead of the Assembly polls in the state, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is desperate to plug the gaps and put its house in order. The party’s core committee which met here on Saturday discussed a host of issues pertaining to the BJP’s preparations before the approaching elections.
BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh revealed members of the core committee suggested that the party’s candidates in the Assembly polls must have face value.
It was also suggested that the party should clarify its stand on beef eating as well as the pressing issue of atrocities against the Christian community in many parts of the country.
The BJP’s mission document and manifesto, it was pointed out, should focus on youths and the overall employment scenario in the state. The party’s national president Amit Shah was asked to apprise the chief election commissioner to expedite the process of selecting and announcing candidates for the state polls at the earliest.
