SHILLONG: Veteran Congress leader DD Lapang laid the foundation stone for construction of Seng Khasi Riwar Mihngi Cultural Hall in Pynursla on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, Lapang, who is now the advisor to Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee, congratulated the Seng Khasi Riwar Mihngi in getting a cultural hall and providing services to the people of the region.
Lapang also mentioned the influence of Maham Sing in Khasi culture and his role in the Seng Khasi community.
The Seng Khasi Riwar Mihngi, which was established on February 26, 1989, and has nine committees. Among the 57,570 inhabitants in this region, there are 29,053 people who still follow the traditional Khasi religion.
