NONGPOH: Prestone Tynsong, who is being projected as the chief ministerial candidate of the National People’s Party (NPP), continued his attacks on the Congress and Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
Addressing a gathering at the party’s convention at Umden on Thursday, Tynsong reiterated that Sangma’s dictatorial ways compelled him to quit the party.
He also blamed Sangma for diverting a sericulture project from Ri Bhoi to Ampati in 2012. “The state government had proposed to construct an incubation centre in Ri Bhoi but it was later diverted to Ampati at the behest of Mukul Sangma,” said Tynsong who was then the minister of sericulture.
Meanwhile, speaking at the convention, NPP’s candidate in Nongpoh CB Syiem said he was hopeful of victory. Among others present were WR Kharlukhi, NPP state president, Ngaitlang Dhar, former MLA of Umroi, and HS Shylla, Nongkrem MDC, among others.
