Security forces bust ULFA-I overground network

GUWAHATI: Security Forces as part of area domination on 69th Republic day undertook joint operations with Assam Police and apprehended three over ground workers of ULFA(I) in the late evening of January 26 from Kakorani.

The banned ULFA(I) of late has been active in the belt of Jagun- Kakorani and this apprehension will render the outfit defunct without any administrative support of the over ground workers. Jairampur battalion of the security forces under the aegis of DAO Division has been carrying out relentless operations in south Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents and these apprehensions will go a long way in creating fear among the anti-national elements in the area.

Based on input of Assam Police about likely presence of ULFA cadre in Kakorani, Jagun. the Jairampur battalion along with Assam police swiftly launched an operation and apprehended the three over ground workers, Ranjit Chutia, Bongday Sabuk Dora and Debemshor Gogoi.

The police confirmed that the individuals had been acting as over ground workers of the banned outfit and are allegedly linked to recent activities of the group in the area. The operation comes as a follow up to two low intensity blast witnessed during the day. The Blast was an act of desperation by a dying oranisation to gain publicity and maintain its relevance.
