Accident
On January 26 around 1.50 am, a local taxi (ML-05M-1434) driven by Banshan Syiemlieh (21) dashed against a footpath at Dhankheti, Shillong. As a result, the driver and one occupant sustained injuries and were shifted to Woodland Hospital Shillong.
One held for stealing cow
Binod Ch Marak lodged a complaint that on January 24 around 5 am, the residents of Danakstream, Bollonggre in West Garo Hills apprehended Palsin Ch Marak while he was selling meat of a stolen cow which was reported missing since January 22. The accused was handed over to the police.
Abducted
Md. Abdur Rauf lodged a complaint that on January 24, his son-in-law., Munsher Ali of Jordanga Part-I, Mankachar, Assam went to Salmanpara in his Bolero Pick-up to collect betel nut. Later, on the same day the complainant received a phone call from an unidentified person who demanded ransom for the safe release of his son-in-law, failing which the caller threatened to kill the abducted victim.
One flees with money
Pintu Ray of G.T Timber, Industrial area, Umiam (Ri Bhoi) lodged a complaint that on January 20 he sent his operator Baba Buragohain to withdraw money from a bank at Shillong. However, after withdrawing the money, the operator did not return to the industry till date.
Fire
A fire broke out in the residence of Madonna Dkhar (56) near Little Flower School, Kharmalki, around 3.30 pm on Friday. One computer and mattress were partially damaged. The fire was extinguished by local residents.
