Two commit suicide
SHILLONG: In separate cases of suicide, two persons reportedly committed suicide by hanging at their respective residences. On January 29 around 1 am, Wanbor Pohthmi (32 yrs) reportedly committed suicide by hanging in his residence at Mawiong Umjapung Rumnong, Shillong. In another incident, on January 28, Binod Dalu (27 yrs) committed suicide by hanging in his residence at Dalu Killapara (WGH). Necessary formalities were observed in both the cases.
Peddlers arrested
SHILLONG: Detecting suspicious movement of two persons, police during a search and recovered / seized 01.5 gram heroin, Rs. 10,880 in cash and mobile phones from their possession. Police on Saturday detected suspicious movement of two persons Pynhoi Nongtdu and Fifly Tang in a Maruti WagonR (ML-05N-0688) at Lumpyrtuh Mihmyntdu (WJH) and seized the materials from them.
Harassment over Aadhaar number
SHILLONG: The Meghalaya People’s United Front East Jaintia Hills districts (MPUF-EJHD) complained to the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills, on receiving complaints that banks are harassing people for Aadhaar number. In a statement issued here, the DC told the organisation that banks or companies cannot harass people to get the Aadhaar number as the matter is with the Supreme Court.
Drowned
On January 26 around 2 pm, Teilang Majaw (17 years) reportedly drowned at Koilaghat River under Tyllap OP (EKH). The cadaver was retrieved and handed over to the relatives after observing necessary formalities.
