Pala gets notice for violating poll code

SHILLONG: Shillong MP, Vincent Pala has been slapped with a notice by the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills  for allegedly violating the model poll code of conduct.

Pala and Nongstoin sitting MLA, Diostarness Jyndiang had attended the official function to inaugurate the Hostel of Umyiap District at Tiehsaw village in West Khasi Hills on  Thursday.

However Pala on Friday clarified that the  request for attending the meeting had come two months before  and he neither talked  politics  nor announced any schemes while attending the programme.

“I just gave my blessing   and don’t think it is a  violation of the model code of conduct,” Pala said, adding that it was not a political programme but a programme organised by the Church.

Pala would also consult his lawyers  before replying to the notice issued by the  DC office.
