SHILLONG: The Bharatiya Janata Party in its attempt to woo voters of the state has released the Chargesheet against the Congress party in the run up to the February 27 Assembly polls
The 38-page chargesheet against Congress, “ 15 years of loot, 15 years of destruction” was released by the Union Tourism Minister, KJ Alphons here on Thursday.
The charge-sheet released by the BJP highlights the failure of the Congress-led government in Meghalaya in the past decade besides the various failures and scams reported in different sectors like education, health, infrastructure in the state during the Congress regime .
The chargesheet also mentions about boundary dispute, child labour, corruption ,militancy power crisis besides the unfulfilled promises made by the Congress party in the year 2013.
Speaking to media persons , KJ Alphons alleged that the Congress party has not fulfilled any of its promises which were made in the 2013 Assembly polls.
Alphons while castigating Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma accused him of taking credit for what the BJP government at the Centre has done for the development of the state.
Interestingly, the chargesheet released by the BJP makes no mention of the medicine scam and M-Tab distribution scam which took place when BJP leader AL Hek was the minister of the respective departments in the Congress-led government.
However, BJP candidate from Pynthorumkhrah, Hek, brushed aside allegations claiming that these scams did not take place during his tenure as the Health and IT minister in the Mukul Sangma-led government.
“ These things happened before me and during my tenure, there was no scam of even a single pie,” he claimed.
The chargesheet made a mention of the education scam in Meghalaya while tagging Congress leader Ampareen Lyngdoh as the main accused.
However, it made no mention of the other MLAs who featured in the list for recommending candidates for the teachers’ post.
On being asked, Hek, whose name also featured in the list of MLAs who recommended names of candidates, said “As a public representative, It is my job to help people but the authority lies with the concerned minister whether to take or reject our recommendations.”
