SHILLONG: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate from Mawhati (Ri Bhoi), Tyngshain Lapang, nephew of veteran Congress leader DD Lapang, has said that the Congress has lost its rhythm.
Speaking to reporters on Friday at a press conference, Tyngshain said that the electoral fight in the Mawhati constituency is among National People’s Party (NPP), United Democratic Party (UDP) and NCP.
Turning to the challenges of the constituency, he said that 80 per cent of the constituents are farmers and he would put agricultural development as a priority, other development activities he would give prior to are cottage and small scale industries, education.
Asked on the position of Mawhati’s former legislator, Julius Dorphang who is currently n jail, Tyngshain said, “It is the mandate of the people if he (Dorphang) is re-elected. I leave it to the wisdom of the people.”
However, he claimed that Dorphang does not have the majority support with him.
