GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new coalition government of Meghalaya, hopes for a new era of renewed cooperation between Assam and Meghalaya for the greater interest of both the neighbours.
He congratulated Meghalaya’s new Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his council of ministers who were administered oath of office and secrecy at a function at Raj Bhavan in Shillong on Tuesday.
Conrad, national president of the National People’s Party, along with 11 other ministers, took oath thereby paving the way for a new journey of the five-party coalition government in the state.
Congratulating the new chief minister, Sonowal hoped the government would work to fulfil the aims and aspirations of the people of Meghalaya.
“I hope both the governments in Meghalaya and Assam work in tandem to bolster development of both states and advance the mutual interests for the benefit of all sections of the people,” he said.
