SHILLONG/TURA: The All Meghalaya Dancers’ Association (AMDA) will meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma anytime this month to seek help for the promotion of local talents.
President of the association Kitbok Thabah told reporters that AMDA has demanded a state-run residential dancing and singing institution in a memorandum to the government.
“We also demand that dancing and singing should be included in school curriculum which will be an employment-oriented platform for them,” he said.
The association wants for grants for youngsters who participate in national programmes and private institutes for singing and dancing.
“Dancing and singing should be included in the Youth Talented Skills Development,” it said.
Meanwhile, the All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) has congratulated newly elected Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma.
“We sincerely congratulate you sir and send our best wishes for your success and wisdom in discharging important and responsible duties of your position. We are confident that the trust placed in you by the citizens of Meghalaya will inspire you to continue your efforts in promoting the unity of the state, leading it on the path of prosperity, further well-being and security for the people,” it said in a release.
