SHILLONG: Moving the motion on allotment of Rs 133 crore by the Centre to the members of district councils as Special Assistance Scheme, HSPDP MDC Mansturdy Nongrem said he did not receive the Rs 3 crore which was given to other MDCs.
Nongrem, while speaking about the flow of funds to the KHADC, said the Centre did not intend to develop the council assets and the funds were meant for the people. “It is unfair,” he said.
Replying to the motion, KHADC chief executive member PN Syiem said, “How will we serve the people without proper assets?”
Syiem cited an instance that on the MDCs visit to Tripura District Council, there was a museum and traditional institute, adding “The KHADC should have its own traditional institute and research centre.”
“To be an MDC footpath, to be a CEM footpath is wrong,” he retorted.
Syiem added that the scheme is for the benefit of all.
