SHILLONG: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui informed the House on Thursday that the current strength of lecturers in Kiang Nangbah College can cater to the need of the students.
On the issue of congestion in the college, the minister said construction work was being undertaken under the Rashtriya Uchchattar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme for extension.
The matter was raised by Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla (NPP).
He also asked about providing assistance to Thomas Jones Synod College as a solution to decongest Kiang Nangbah Government College. In reply, Rymbui expressed his inability to provide any clarification on the matter.
The minister said the plan of the government is to fill up all the posts for the benefit of the students and community colleges will be set up. Replying to a supplementary query by Congress MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh on the teacher-student ratio, Rymbui said, “The matter will be streamlined.”
