SHILLONG: The recent incident which claimed the life of one woman from Tuber who died on the way to the hospital after she gave birth to a baby girl due to traffic jam has aroused anger among many members of the civil societies including the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF).

According to a statement issued by the JYF here on Tuesday, publicity and information secretary central body PP Lyngdoh said they are disappointed over the government’s failure to tackle traffic problem along the national highway.

It may be recalled that one Phim Chyrmang (37) of Tuber-kmai shnong died on the way to hospital after she gave birth due to traffic jam.

The JYF has urged the state government to redress traffic jam along the highway and ban the trucks with trailers and to keep a check on the old trucks plying along the NH 44.
